Dear Friends,
How to keep The Abbey School memories alive through WIKIPEDIA. Interesting chat

Hi, George,
There are literally hundreds of citations you can make for your Wikipedia entry.
The most prolific source is, of course, the Circulars.
You will need to go to each of the 15 years of 52 Circulars and search them for key words such as “Fr Benedict” or “Fr Augustine” or “history” or “commencement” or “Refectory”.
When you find a Circular with something relevant to what you have written, you select and copy the URL for that Circular, and you use that URL as your citation.
For example, I went to the 2015 Circulars.
In the top left hand corner there is a search window to search the 2015 Circulars.
I typed in “history” and pressed “enter”.
I got several Circulars with emails dealing with the history of the Abbey School.
You will also want to add Kazim’s Abbey School Facebook page and Fr Harold’s in order to give your article more credibility and gravitas.
Keep well.
Don

Have added a few more items this morning.....not sure as to what is the minimum that we need to have to avoid the rejection.
Will continue to populate as I study past circulars to get applicable information.
I am copying the latest version onto Word.

Do not have any other ideas to share right now.
Hopefully someone may be able to help.

Latest issue in latest version: citation request.
This stuff came from my memory from reading, sharing, etc.
Other than Circulars and MSB Database....to the best of my knowledge...we do not have any other official documents to cite.
Does anyone have other ideas?

All available records indicate 1944…..what is y’all’s recollection?
Do we need to include any additional alumni in this effort this week that can and would be willing to help?
If so, please pass on this urgent request to them as we only have a few more days before we are eliminated….
Thanks.

Thanks, Kazim for making the changes.....and Don, for sharing your suggestions.
I have not created a Word document as Don suggests.
I was hoping to encourage some of the alumni to make the respective entries for the years they attended....probably not a very good assumption.
I also was unaware of all the requirements that have to be met.
I will continue populating.....but will probably be "removed".
Thanks again for all your ideas and support,
George

Hello, George,
The message from Wikipedia tells you what the problem is.
There is excessive capitalisation.
The heading should be “Abbey School. . .” not “ABBEY SCHOOL . . .”
Then, it says it is giving you seven days to populate the page with all the information you have.
I presume you have prepared a Word document with all the information you have. If not, you have seven days to do so. You would not want to use Wikipedia as a sort of scratch board on which you experiment with material.
You would want to have all the material you want to post previously prepared in a Word document, with all appropriate footnotes and links. When the page is complete (after you have sent it to several of us to proof-read and edit for you) you would simply paste it in to the Wikipedia page.
So it seems to me, anyway.

Hi Guys
As I tried to continue populating the topic this morning….Wikipedia informed me of a series of issues that need to be corrected….or…the article will be deleted. Unfortunately I am not knowledgeable enough about addressing the required changes…..so I have posted the following request for help on our FB:
Wikipedia....PLEASE HELP....I have run into a few technical issues as you can see from the latest version. Primarily one dealing with format and acceptable practices. Would greatly appreciate assistance to overcome this issue and I will continue to populate the information. Here is link to latest version as of this morning....Thank you very much https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ ABBEY_SCHOOL,_MOUNT_SAINT_ BENEDICT,_TRINIDAD
If you have a friend or family member with the expertise to do it…..please ask them for their kind and valuable assistance…..thanks.
Un abrazo,
George

Hello, George,
Back from the island tour, had my afternoon nap, read all the regional and international Sunday newspapers I need to read, had some supper, and am now settling down to answer emails before I go back to bed for a good night’s sleep. Ah, the strenuous life of the retired person.
The “metrics” for Ladislao’s Circulars as of today, 2 October 2016, are as follows:
2001 Circulars:  7,819 page views:  http:// abbeyschool2001circulars. blogspot.com/
2002 Circulars:  7,438 page views: http:// abbeyschool2002circulars. blogspot.com/
2003 Circulars:  20,281 page views:  http:// abbeyschool2003circulars. blogspot.com/
2004 Circulars:  19,664 page views:  http:// abbeyschool2004circulars. blogspot.com/
2005 Circulars:  14,844 page views:  http:// abbeyschool2005circulars. blogspot.com/
2006 Circulars:  7,227 visitors:  http://msbtunapuna.blogspot. com/
2007 Circulars:  9,613 visitors:  http://abbeyschool2007. blogspot.com/
2008 Circulars:  10,144 visitors:  http:// abbeyschool2008circulars. blogspot.com/
2010 Circulars:  35,481 page views:  http:// abbeyschoolmtstbenedict2010cir culars.blogspot.com/
2013 Circulars:  17,704 page views:  http:// abbeyschoolmtstbenedict2013cir culars.blogspot.com/
2014 Circulars:  14,794 page views:  http:// abbeyschool2014circulars. blogspot.com/
2015 Circulars:  7,469 page views:  http:// abbeyschool2015circulars. blogspot.com/
2016 Circulars:  3,155 page views and continuing:  http:// abbeyschool2016circulars. blogspot.com/
Note that some years measure “visitors” while other years measure “pages viewed” so the statistics are not homogenous throughout the period under review.
It appears that our high point of readers of the Circular was the year 2010, with 35,000 pages viewed. Readership has been declining steadily since that date. There were 19,000 pages read in 2012, 18,000 in 2013,15,000 in 2014, and 7,500 in 2015 (a mere 20% of the readership experienced in 2010).
Time to memorialise the history of the school on Wikipedia before the readership of the Circulars falls to zero.
Keep well.
Don

Great Kazim...
I know what you mean by this......dozens of user names....hundreds/thousands of passwords....going back decades ago.
Do you have a sense of how many alumni check our FB page on a regular basis? I see that we have 127 members....it seems that only 25-40% seem to read it on a regular basis.
Ladislao/Don....do you have any "metrics" on the Circulars?
Warm regards,
George

Congrats, Nigel,
That was a test and you passed it.
Just curious to see who really read the first entry….as far as this morning is concerned…you are the only  who responded on the “1968” test…
Anybody in the world has the power to correct, add, subtract, etc.
Ideally, I would like to see every living alumni contribute to it.
As far as potential human “publicity” for this effort goes….
I am aware of 3 options….Circulars…Facebook… Personal E-Mail Contacts.
The rest is in the hands of the Holy Spirit.
I am planning to add a little every few days unless others have done so…..keep it organic and technology centred.
Have a blessed Sunday,
George

Shish,
This is an excellent initiative. I hope many of the OB’s will take advantage of it and enter their information.
Just one thing - I believe that the School closed in 1986, and not 1968.
